How we check what is on this site
Sources last read end to end on 20 September 2026.
The rule
Every number and every quoted provision on this site is read from the primary source and carries that source and the year it belongs to. Where an official figure could not be located, the page says so rather than estimating it. Nothing here is synthesised, modelled or inferred from market commentary.
Mechanically: the figures live in one module that every page imports from, so the same number cannot be right in one place and stale in another. Values that are derived from other values — the gap between the reduced and standard rates of Air Passenger Duty, for instance — are recomputed from the table at build time and the build fails if the stored figure and the computed figure disagree.
What we read, and what we read it for
| Source | Used for |
|---|---|
| Civil Aviation (ATOL) Regulations 2012 | The licensing prohibition (reg 9) and the full list of exemptions (reg 10), including the general business travel agreement exemption |
| Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 | The scope of the Regulations and the business travel exclusion in reg 3 |
| GOV.UK — Air Passenger Duty rates | Every APD figure on this site, for from 1 April 2026 and from 1 April 2027 |
| VAT Notice 709/5 — Tour Operators Margin Scheme | The VAT recovery position for business customers, quoted by paragraph number |
| CAA — ATOL Protection Contribution | The APC figure, who pays it and when |
| Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 | The employer duty that underlies traveller duty of care |
| Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 | The offence, its senior-management element and its Scottish name |
| ONS — Travel trends: 2024 | UK residents' visits abroad and spending abroad, all purposes |
What we deliberately do not publish
- Fee benchmarks. No primary source for current UK travel management fee levels was read for this build. Every competitor figure available is vendor-published or survey-derived without a stated sample. So this site explains how each fee model behaves and what to ask, and prints no numbers. A benchmark you cannot source is worse than no benchmark, because a reader will negotiate against it.
- The business-purpose share of UK travel. The ONS publishes visits abroad by purpose of visit in the underlying dataset rather than in the headline article. The business-purpose split was not read for this page, so it is not stated here.
- Supplier-by-supplier comparison rows. The comparison page publishes the axes and the verification routes rather than a filled-in table of named suppliers. The operational values behind those axes — headcount, consultant experience, technology stack — are supplier-stated and have no public register behind them, so a table of them would be a table of unverified claims wearing the authority of a table.
- Reviews, ratings, scores, rankings and awards. We hold no data that would substantiate any of them, and a rating published by a site that is paid by the companies being rated is worth nothing anyway.
How the pages are dated
Each page shows the date its sources were last read end to end, not the date the file changed. Statutory instruments are quoted as made and linked to legislation.gov.uk so you can check whether they have since been amended. Money figures carry the tax year they belong to, because an uprating on 1 April silently makes an untagged figure wrong.
Corrections
Write to contact@tmcmatch.co.uk with the page and the source you think it conflicts with. Corrections are checked against the primary source and the page is amended or the statement removed. We do not publish anything we cannot source, and we would rather remove a sentence than defend one.
Independence
This site is paid a fixed fee per enquiry by the travel management companies that advertise on it, agreed in advance and unrelated to any contract value or outcome. That arrangement is set out in full in the disclaimer, linked at the foot of every page. It is also why there are no rankings here: we have nothing to gain from steering you, and no basis on which we could.
